Continuing Education with APOSW

Chalkboard with continuing education written on it.

Whether you’re just starting your social work career or have years of clinical experience, maintaining your license means completing continuing education (CE) credits. Each state has its own requirements, so it is every social worker’s responsibility to know their regulations and ensure compliance.

APOSW is committed to supporting members in this process. We are an approved provider for the New York State Education Department’s State Board for Social Work and obtain CE approval for most of our programs through the National Association of Social Workers (NASW).

According to NASW standards, social workers hold personal responsibility for continuing professional education, which includes:

  • Identifying individual learning needs
  • Pursuing relevant continuing education opportunities
  • Engaging fully in the learning process
  • Applying new knowledge to practice

At APOSW, we take this responsibility seriously and strive to provide high-quality CE options. Our Annual Conference is the cornerstone of our CE programming, but we are expanding opportunities through our Online CE Center
